House Concert

House Concert

Saturday, September 12 @ 7:00PMSat, Sep 12 @ 7:00PM

Evanston, IL

From event organizer Michael Lieber: This may be late getting to you, but I didn’t know that Rod MacDonald was coming to town until two days ago. Of course I booked him without a second thought. I hope as many of you that can make it will be there. We don’t get the chance to hear him live that often, Rod has been writing songs since the 1970s, and his songwriting and recordings of his own musics have been covered by many recording artists. Besides writing and recording his own music, he also leads a Bob Dylan tribute band, teaches courses live and recorded popular music at Florida Atlantic University, and has published 3 novels. Among his prolific output of music are songs like Sailor’s Prayer, which has been recorded by both individual artists and choruses (because the song lends itself to rearranging and multiple harmonies). American Jerusalem is a folk music classic, and Ballerina is an undeservedly lesser known. His song about 9/11, Our Neighbors in Delray, is harrowing. This concert will be in the back yard in Evanston, and there is plenty of on street parking. We will have mosquito spray available if needed, and an ice container for BYOB. I don’t know if anyone else is planning to bring stuff, but I’m making chocolate chip cookies for concertgoers. The suggested donation is now $25, all of which goes to the performer(s). It makes it easier on us to know how many people are cpming, so reserving seats helps us lug chairs. Reservations are had by Mike Lieber (773-513-3570 or mdlieber@gmail.com).
