A remarkable number of Chicago musicians have stepped onto the world stage: soul artists Curtis Mayfield, Sam Cooke, and Lou Rawls; blues giants Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Paul Butterfield; rock and roll pioneers Chuck Berry and Etta James; folksingers Bob Gibson, Steve Goodman, and John Prine; and rock superstars Chicago, Cheap Trick, and Earth, Wind & Fire.
